Nada GB Auricular Acupuncture

NADA GB Auricular Acupuncture
A simple five-point ear acupuncture protocol to support relaxation, stress reduction and wellbeing.
NADA Auricular Acupuncture is a specific five-point protocol using fine, sterile, disposable needles placed at designated points on the ear.
The NADA protocol is used in a range of community and wellbeing settings, including substance-misuse support and recovery environments and can provide a quiet, calming and non-verbal treatment experience.
What is NADA Auricular Acupuncture?
The NADA Five Point Protocol involves placing needles into five specific points on the ear.
It was developed for use within substance-misuse and community settings and has also become widely used as a complementary approach for people experiencing stress and seeking relaxation and emotional support.
The treatment is quiet and requires very little conversation, allowing you to simply sit, relax and take some time for yourself.
What can it support?
NADA Auricular Acupuncture may be used as a complementary wellbeing approach to support people experiencing:
  • Stress and feelings of overwhelm
  • Difficulty relaxing or switching off
  • Sleep difficulties
  • Anxiety and restlessness
  • Emotional distress
  • Recovery and substance-misuse support
  • Support around drugs, alcohol and tobacco
Within substance-misuse settings, the NADA protocol may be used alongside existing recovery and support services.
What happens during a session?
Your practitioner will discuss the treatment with you before beginning and check your suitability.
Five sterile, single-use needles are placed at specific points on the ear. You then sit comfortably and quietly for the treatment.
Many people describe the experience as calm, peaceful and relaxing.
There is no requirement to talk during the treatment, making it an opportunity to simply pause and be present.
How long does it take?
Your appointment will include time for a consultation, treatment and aftercare guidance.
Your practitioner will explain the process fully before treatment begins and answer any questions you may have.
This will take up to 1 hour.
Is NADA suitable for everyone?
Not necessarily. A consultation is carried out before treatment to identify any contraindications, precautions or reasons why treatment may not be appropriate.
Please tell your practitioner about any medical conditions, medications, pregnancy, allergies or other relevant health information before treatment.
If you are currently receiving medical or psychological treatment, NADA should be considered complementary to your existing care and not a replacement for it.
NADA, Recovery & Substance Misuse
The NADA Five Point Protocol has particular roots in substance-misuse and recovery settings and is used alongside wider support programmes.
It may be offered to people working through challenges associated with drugs, alcohol or tobacco, providing a calm and supportive environment as part of a wider recovery journey.
It is not a standalone treatment for addiction or withdrawal and should not replace medical, psychological or specialist addiction support.
